Wellcome Collection: Applications Specialist, Collection

 

The Wellcome Collection, part of Wellcome, is a free museum and library that aims to challenge how we all think and feel about health.

Through exhibitions, collections, live programming, digital, broadcast and publishing, we create opportunities for people to think deeply about the connections between science, medicine, life and art.

We are looking for an experienced Applications Specialist in Digital and Technology to support our Collection.

The role will report to a Product Lines Manager and will respond to incidents, problems, and service requests through taking informed, assertive corrective actions e.g., a modification, restriction, complete removal of resources or services available, enhancements, devising workarounds, correcting faults, making general modifications, changing operating procedures, escalating to 3rd parties and suppliers utilizing Digital and Technologies Service Management tool, Service-Now and managing tickets  in line with defined processes. 

You will take technical responsibility for the provision, stability, availability, useability, configuration, integration and user interface for software product(s) and applications within the area of responsibility.

Skills and Experience: 

Essential:

  • Application and software product(s) operability on different operating systems including Windows 10, Surface Pros, IOS and Apple smart devices.

  • Practical experience with ITIL processes e.g., problem management, incident management, change control, etc and the creation of the same.

  • Proficient with service management tools and systems e.g., SNC, Freshworks, TopDesk, etc.

  • Experience with Library systems and technologies for public spaces e.g. footfall systems.

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined Agile and DevOps environment.

  • Understanding of release and deployment processes and techniques.

  • Experience with application systems including Saas, evergreen, local client, virtualsed, on demand, etc 

  • Familiar with programming and scripting languages e.g., PowerShell, python, PHP

Desirable:

  • Application or software product(s) specialist certification

  • Integration and automation techniques

  • Machine learning

  • Collaboration and control tools such as SharePoint, Confluence and Liquid Planner

  • ITIL Foundation

  • Configuration Management

  • Experience with digital experience systems and preventative management systems e.g., NexThink

  • Lean process improvement

  • Familiar with intent based leadership
