Major Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Head of Engineering is the senior facilities manager leading engineering operations, planning and projects for J. Paul Getty Trust, which includes the both the 1.6 million square foot Getty Center in Los Angeles, and the 500,000 square foot Getty Villa in Malibu. The Head of Engineering supervises a team of over 55 FTE and is responsible for developing and overseeing the engineering operations, budget planning and forecasting, leading the engineering infrastructure renewal, overseeing emergency response, day or night, as well as energy management and utilities. The Head of Engineering serves as the point of contact for Getty conservation, collections, and scientific professionals and the building performance including HVAC standards.

In addition, this position requires progressive experience in a large, complex organization, preferably in a world-class cultural organization, university, pharmaceutical, and/or medical center; a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field; a Master’s degree preferred; a Professional Engineer license and demonstrated senior-level administrative experience in facilities engineering management and a minimum of ten years’ supervisory experience. Technical proficiency in facilities engineering operations that includes a high-level of experience with managing complex central plant systems, fire protection systems, building controls which strictly regulate building environmental conditions and high-rise experience preferred.
