The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts: Interns for EFA Studio and EFA Project Space Programs

The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts seeks interns for both our Studio and Project Space Programs. Applicants may apply to both programs, but must complete an application for each. Please see below for full details and application procedures.

For internships with the EFA Studio Program: The EFA Studio Program offers a 15-week Internship for current, graduate and undergraduate students with interest in the Visual Arts. The internship is an opportunity to gain insight into the lives of working artists, as well as the intricacies of running a nonprofit organization. Primary tasks include, administrative work, artist assistantship, along with educational field trips and one on one time with a range of Arts Professionals. The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Program is a juried membership program for professional visual artists. The program provides subsidized studio space for over 75 contemporary artists. EFA Studio Program is seeking enthusiastic and committed candidates who desire to learn about contemporary art and arts administration. Successful candidates will be amiable, adaptable, professional, social, and confident. Interns should be comfortable working as a member of a team—working well with direction, while feeling confident to provide his/her own insights. Along with handling the administrative tasks of the program, interns will consistently be working directly with contemporary artists.

For internships with the EFA Project Space Program: EFA Project Space seeks interns for an Exhibition Internship. All Internships are for a minimum of 2 days per week, and require at least a three-month commitment, beginning in January or February. Interns must be available to work during office hours (11 am – 6 pm, Monday – Friday). Availability to assist with occasional evening and Saturday events, a plus. Open to B.A. students, M.A./M.F.A. students (preferred), and Ph.D. candidates, preferably for credit. EFA Project Space is a collaborative, cross-disciplinary arts venue focusing on curatorial practice. We produce exhibitions, artist projects, and the SHIFT residency program for artists who work in arts organizations. Project Space Exhibitions Interns gain a broad range of experience working closely with EFA Staff, guest curators, and artists on our exhibitions, public events, and publications. This is a great opportunity for those who wish to gain experience with the exhibition-making process from start to finish, working directly with arts professionals to develop an understanding of arts administration in a non-profit gallery setting.
