The Chinati Foundation: Chinati Education Internship
Education interns assist the Education Coordinator with implementation of classes, tours, special events, and other initiatives that support the art and vision of Chinati. Responsibilities include: preparing educational materials for youth and adult programs; assisting with K-12 classes, field trips, and hands-on activities; writing curriculum; working with local artist instructors; leading tours of the collection; general office duties; and working at special events. Interns live and work with the permanent collection and are provided with valuable resources and training toward future courses of study and careers in art education and public programs. The education internship requires a B.A. in studio art, art education, art history, or a related field. Applicants should have strong interest in working with K-12 youth, special events, and community outreach. The education internship lasts 5–6 months. An average work week is 40 hours and occasional evening or weekend time may be required for special events. As compensation, interns are given a modest stipend of $100 per week, a furnished apartment on the Chinati grounds, and travel to and from the El Paso or Midland/Odessa airports.
