Terra Foundation for American Art: Summer 2020 Curatorial Internship
The Terra Foundation’s Collection department invites applications for a summer intern to work in the Chicago office for an approximately two-month period between June and August 2020. Under the supervision of the curator and registrar, with some direction from the assistant curator and assistant registrar, the intern will be engaged primarily in the following tasks, with other duties as assigned:
- archiving past exhibition projects and related grants
- working on aspects of the collection pages of the foundation’s website
- compiling and archiving acquisition research
- data entry into GIFTS database
- collection management projects
- mailing foundation catalogues and other materials
A non-profit foundation with an important collection of historical art of the United States, the Terra Foundation for American Art seeks to foster the study and enjoyment of American art in Chicago and around the world. The foundation’s collection comprises approximately 750 paintings, pastels, drawings, and prints made between 1750 and 1980 and includes works by artists such as John Singleton Copley, Thomas Cole, Samuel F. B. Morse, Frederic E. Church, Winslow Homer, James McNeill Whistler, Mary Cassatt, Marsden Hartley, Georgia O’Keeffe, Arthur Dove, Charles Sheeler, Jacob Lawrence, Thomas Hart Benton, Edward Hopper, Beauford Delaney, and Ed Paschke.
This paid internship comprises 210 hours (30 working days). It does not include benefits.
