The Museu Coleção Berardo invites you to the opening of Joana Escoval’s solo exhibition “Mutações. The Last Poet”, on 12 February, Wednesday, at 7 p.m.
The artistic practice of Joana Escoval has established an extremely idiosyncratic relationship with nature. In her works, everything is about to disappear or transform into something different—a cosmos where energy is in constant flux and natural elements are interconnected in its overwhelming incommensurability.
Joana Escoval regards the very exhibition space of “Mutações. The Last Poet” as a medium. She presents an installation that transforms the gallery’s architecture into a continuum of organic curves through which one will wander, coming across sculptures, videos, and other elements connected within a poetic narrative. Questions associated with the relationships between substances, the body, and the world are explored through the metaphors produced by these devices, dissipating any divisive line between the human and the non-human and charging the relationships of matter with an effective poetic work.
