Maison des Arts Georges et Claude Pompidou : Artist in Residence

Located 140 km north of Toulouse in a rural and tourist environment, the MAGCP, Maison des Arts Georges et Claude Pompidou, combines the missions of a contemporary art centre in Cajarc and those of international artist residences, the Daura Houses, in Saint-Cirq Lapopie. The programming aims to combine eclecticism and high standards to make sense of the problems of the contemporary world. The association participates in Air de Midi – Réseau art contemporain en Midi-Pyrénées, in the activities of the LMAC, laboratory of mediations in contemporary art. We are a member of dca / Association française de développement des centres d’art et d’Arts en résidence – Réseau national.

Selection of artists:
For the spring, the artists are selected by the MAGCP, to which an associate curator is added. It is a question of implementing a collective project in visual arts, sound, architecture… whose productions will be presented for the Parcours d’art contemporain en vallée du Lot which follows the residence.
For the autumn, the residency is open to 4 young artists in partnership with the 4 art schools of the Occitanie region, to support the emergence of a regional art scene. Schools are responsible for nominating their alumni (N-3). Daura Houses also receive 1 or 2 artists associated with international programs.

Return travel expenses to and from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie are compensated up to a maximum of 200 euros on production of tickets. The contribution to production costs is made through a shared envelope in order to allow appropriate responses to projects. All communication costs (advertising, invitation cards, receptions, publications, catalogues, mailing, openings) are covered by the MAGP and its partners.

The residence contract:
The reciprocal commitments of the association and the artist in residence are fixed in advance by contract.
