Kura Gallery : Gallery Assistant
Kia ora, We are looking for new team member who has a real passion for Maori Art and who will enhance our customers experience – is that you?
Kura Galleries exhibit and sell New Zealand art & design, specialising in Maori art. Knowledge of Maori culture and or Maori art is central to our business.
The successful candidate for this role will be mature and well presented and seeking to be part of a team for the long term, theres room to grow in this role for the right person.
You will be sales oriented with an interest in Maori art and in sharing that interest with our customers, so you will possess excellent communication skills being able to talk to a wide range of people.
The role includes a variety of admin jobs so ideally you will be savvy with social media and proficient with commonly used computer programs, Excel in particular. Being able to work independently and to take the initiative with projects is also key.
Key duties will include:
- Retail sales, Eftpos transactions, giftwrapping.
- Customer service, answering phones, taking messages, completing customer enquiries in a professional manner.
- Goods in pricing, labelling and display of goods and artworks.
- Keeping the front desk and gallery spaces organised and tidy.
- Management of social media, photography skills a bonus.
The role will include some other tasks as required to run an art exhibition space, i.e. helping out with exhibitions, hanging art, updating social media.
There are a lot of roles providng a great opportunity to learn a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge.
This role is rostered shifts starting with 12 hours per week – with flexibility required.
There is opportunity to develop this into a permanent part-time position and grow in line with experience and responsibilities and an increase in days worked each week.
