The Arshile Gorky Foundation : Freelance Digital Archivist

The Arshile Gorky Foundation is seeking a freelance digital archivist for a small-scale digitization project. The archives to be scanned consist of nine standard-sized bankers boxes containing the files of an art historian who began work on a catalogue raisonné in the 1990s. The archives consist mainly of 8.5 x 11″ paper with typed information, letters on stationary that are both typed and handwritten, small pieces of paper from phone message pads with handwritten notes, transparencies, small or large (8 x 10″) photographs, and some envelopes.

The right candidate must be familiar with archival materials, scanning hardware and software, knowledge of metadata, and filing name conventions/best practices. #LI-DNI
