Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum : Marketing Manager



The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is seeking an experienced and energetic marketing professional who will be responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote programing areas of the museum. Working in conjunction with the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Manager will play an integral role in the branding and marketing of the museum and the museum’s cornerstones — Collections, Contemporary Art, Landscape, Music and Education.

As an integral member of the marketing team, the marketing manager is responsible for assisting in the development of integrated marketing plans that build visibility, and drive visitor volume (admissions and ticketed events). As a key contributor to the Marketing team you will be responsible for delivering insights and analysis around traditional and digital campaigns, leading to continuous improvement of programs and optimization of spending. Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages program related budgets
  • Responsible for online and in person lead generation efforts driving general admission and ticketed event sales; manages associated dashboards
  • Works closely with Membership Manager on the ladder of engagement
  • Acts as Marketing Department liaison with curators and public programming to understand and promote programing initiatives
  • Develops strategy and manages creative campaigns and associated marketing plans from development through execution  utilizing traditional, new media and grassroots marketing
  • Manages all aspects of target audience development, design, collateral, list acquisition, email campaigns, and strategic partnerships
  • Plan, buy and manage online and offline advertising
  • Analyzes and evaluate results of marketing & advertising efforts
  • Monitors competitive environment including museums and outside cultural organization for best practices
  • Oversees museum wide email strategy and execution and website content creation
  • Copy edit work developed in-house in conjunction with Marketing Communications manager
  • Bachelors degree with 6+ years of marketing/advertising experience
  • Proven experience of client relationship and management skills
  • Excellent writing, organizational, analytical and presentation skills
  • Keen eye for good design
  • Knowledge of and comfort with the evolving media landscape and media consumption habits
  • Team player able to partner with colleagues from a wide range of areas
  • High energy able to juggle multiple initiatives and laugh while doing so
  • Has interest and enthusiasm for the arts
