Jürgen A. Messmer discovered the love for art while studying to become an industrial engineer in Munich. In 1978, the entrepreneur was able to acquire a large part of the estate of André Evard (1876-1972), a modern Swiss painter. Since then Mr Messmer has been dedicated to review the life and work of André Evard. Through Evard, Jürgen Messmer found his way to concrete and constructive art, which today is the focus of his collection. His great passion for art motivated the former producer of exclusive writing instruments (messmer pen) to support various exhibitions while he was still involved in his company. In 2005, Mr Messmer launched the International André Evard Art Award, which supports contemporary concrete and constructive artists. Making art and design accessible to the public – this ideal pushes the collector until today. With the foundation and museum, Jürgen Messmer has fulfilled his biggest dreams.
