The Fiminco Foundation is a place dedicated to contemporary international multidisciplinary creation through a program of residencies, exhibitions, performances, meetings and workshops.
It will open its doors in the fall of 2019, in Romainville, in the east of Paris, at the heart of a site that will bring together many cultural players, both public and private: four contemporary art galleries (Air de Paris, Galerie Sator, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff, In Situ fabienne leclerc), the FRAC Île-de-France Reserves and the Jeune Création association. The Foundation will also have a 1,200 m2 exhibition space, La Chaufferie, where exhibitions and presentations by resident artists, guest artists and partner institutions will be scheduled.
The international contemporary art scene has known for several decades a profound transformation which is redrawing across the world new geographies of art and artistic forms with multidisciplinary approaches and sources. It is from this great artistic diversity in constant change that the Fiminco Foundation intends to support and accompany emerging or established artists from all continents.
It is thus a question of creating bridges between the different scenes of art and of offering artists the opportunity to confront their work with other cultural, political and social contexts in order to enrich their practice and promote exchange of views.
The establishment of the Fiminco Foundation in Romainville and more generally in Seine-Saint-Denis is at the heart of the Foundation’s dynamics with a view to building links between creation and the territory. It is from the artistic projects carried by the artists in residence but also through the exhibitions and the meetings which will be programmed at the Fiminco Foundation that a network will be deployed with the institutions, associations, communities, researchers, audiences and inhabitants of the territory.
