The Fondation Thalie is pleased to present Vue liquide, a monographic exhibition by Caroline Achaintre.
Caroline Achaintre (born in Toulouse in 1969, lives in London) works on a wide variety of media, including textiles, ceramics, prints and watercolors, using techniques typically associated with applied arts. Her sculptures, wall hangings in tufted wool, drawings and paintings are colorful and powerfully graphic, and create an atmosphere both playful and absurd. Citing German expressionism, British post-war sculpture and primitivism as influences, her work also refers to pop culture through science fiction, psychedelic and horror films.
Caroline Achaintre has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Making & Unmaking at Camden Arts Center, London in 2016, Entangled: Threads and Making, Turner Contemporary, Margate in 2017, the 13th Triennale of the Baltic States in 2018 and Another Banana Day for the Dream-Fish, Palais de Tokyo, Paris in 2018. Her solo exhibitions include Present/Future, Illy Prize, Castello Di Rivoli, Turin (2014); Caroline Achaintre, Art Now, Tate Britain, London (2015); Duo Infernal, Galerie Art: Concept, Paris (2018); Permanent Wave, Belvedere21, Vienna (2019); Scanner, Arcade, London (2019); Caroline Achaintre, MO.CO, Montpellier (2019).
