Kees Stoop (1929, Werkendam, the Netherlands) was trained at the Royal Academy of fine arts in Antwerp. He lives and works in the east of Holland since the early 1960’s.
Despite the fact that Kees Stoop as a visual artist works in relative isolation and hardly exhibits, there is the national recognition for his work. Thus, the print room of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam has 150 drawings and etchings by him in their collection.
Kees Stoop is an artist in the truest sense of the word, with a healthy averse to fashion and issues of the day. He is a gifted artist and viewer. Every weekday he is still in his studio to draw or paint, with an unrelenting vitality and a deep commitment.
