Fondation Beyeler: Registar Traineeship
The Fondation Beyeler is one of Switzerland’s internationally renowned and most visited museums. Located in an idyllic park in Riehen near Basel, Renzo Piano’s museum building is considered one of the most beautiful art houses in Europe, as it harmoniously combines nature, architecture and art. The Fondation Beyeler houses one of the world’s best private collections and continuously presents high-quality exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. In accordance with the wishes of its founders, it is particularly committed to communicating art to the general public and to young people.
As of March 1, 2021, limited to one year with the option of extension, we are filling the position of Registrar Trainee 100 %.
The trainee position involves processing and supervising loan transactions in the areas of the collection and special exhibitions, as well as assisting the Registrar Department with daily tasks. The registrar department is the interface between the curators, exhibition planners, conservators and museum technology.

The volunteer position involves processing and supervising loan transactions in the areas of the collection and special exhibitions, as well as assisting the Registrar Department with daily tasks. The registrar department is the interface between the curators, exhibition planners, conservators and museum technology.
Your tasks
Preparation and review of loan contracts for incoming and outgoing loans
Assisting with the planning of exhibition set-up and dismantling, registering and checking insurance certificates, and supervising art transports and couriers
Recording and documentation of loan transactions in the MuseumPlus database
Assistance with the supervision of permanent loans
Filing and archiving of exhibition and collection documents
Clarification and coordination of image rights in the areas of collection and exhibitions
Cooperation and communication with international museums and lenders
Your profile
Completed studies (preferably art history, cultural management, museology, business administration) or commercial training
Very good language skills in German and English, good knowledge of French
Good user knowledge of common office programs as well as databases
Independent, structured way of working
Ability to supervise several projects at the same time
Ability to work well in a team, under pressure and flexible in terms of time
Interest in contemporary art and classical modernism but also in organizational and administrative work
