The fourth and penultimate Virtual Reality piece, presented at Faurschou Foundation Beijing, is by Tony Oursler. The piece, space men r My friended, is a comprehensive journey into the world of the “contactee,” George Adamski. Oursler’s approach to the Virtual Reality medium has resulted in a narrative that draws the viewer into a false memory with UFOs and aliens. The existence of a narrative stands in contrast to the previous experiences by Christian Lemmerz, Erik Parker and Paul McCarthy, which emphasizes the broad spectrum that Virtual Reality Art works with.
The overall exhibition, Virtual Reality Art, is exhibited in Beijing from 27.08.17 – 03.02.18, and consists of 5 consecutive “sub-exhibitions” for each participating artist: Christian Lemmerz, Erik Parker, Paul McCarthy, Tony Oursler and Yu Hong. Each artwork is exhibited for a one-month period with complementary sketches, books and artworks for each of the artists and their respective Virtual Reality pieces.
