The third edition of the project ‘Power of the Word’ culminates in an installation in the Islamic East Gallery around the theme ‘Women: Navigating Presence and Absence’.
Power of the Word is a participatory curatorial project in the Museum involving a diverse group of Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Portuguese speakers who live in Lisbon. Their latest collaboration explores the theme Women: Navigating Presence and Absence. This time the intervention in the Islamic East Gallery is a space of reflection and encounter with the life stories of women who inhabit objects in the collection, with origins ranging from Egypt to India, from the twelfth century until today.
