Aperture Foundation : The Elaine Goldman and John Benis Internship for New York City Students

The Elaine Goldman and John Benis Internship for New York City Students at Aperture Foundation is intended to provide experience in working for a not-for-profit arts organization for college students from diverse backgrounds who live in or attend school in New York City. For the Fall term (July – December), the Elaine Goldman and John Benis Diversity intern will work in the Development Department, focusing on special event production.
Applicants for this position should be prepared to work an average of two to four days or 12 to 24 hours per week. The selected person will receive a $2,800 stipend for a six-month term beginning in July. Applicants might be asked to work evening and weekend hours for occasional special events for additional compensation at an hourly rate.

The Development Department’s goal is to raise funds for the full range of Aperture Foundation’s activities, including but not limited to publications, exhibitions, public programs, collection-related projects, the magazine, and general operating support.

The Elaine Goldman and John Benis Intern will help to coordinate and organize all aspects of special events, including Aperture’s Fall Gala and Auction. The intern will work with Aperture staff to collect, catalogue, and arrange transportation of artwork and auction lots; assist with the design and production of online and printed materials; and track ticket and auction sales and RSVPs.
They will also assist Aperture staff by updating and maintaining the donation database, writing agendas for and attending weekly benefit meetings, taking meeting minutes and following up on action items, preparing correspondence and solicitation packages as well as other fundraising materials, and helping to track and maintain all incoming financial data and information related to the Aperture Gala and Auction.
