The international residency program is the hub of our activities at Amant. It is conceived as a research and artistic platform, experimenting with non-linear models of generating knowledge to encourage different connections between artists, researchers, cultural institutions, and the general public.

Amant provides a stimulating and flexible environment for international practitioners to experiment and make work in NY for a period of three months. Located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the residency program encourages its residents to take full advantage of access to the city’s numerous cultural institutions, its art professionals and practitioners many of whom are based in Brooklyn.

The residency welcomes letters from both, emerging artists and from artists with professional standing in their field. Applications are accepted from creative practitioners and academics in a variety of disciplines: visual artists, writers, composers, performers, filmmakers, historians and theorists; working at the research stage of a project.

During the period at Amant, artists can develop their work and follow up with their projects on their own terms. We strongly recommend residents to participate in Amant’s on-going programs and activities, sharing ideas internally and publicly through different formats and methodologies. We highly value openness to cross-disciplinary conversations.

Your application should include the following, both of which can be submitted via the application.

  1. Application form.

  2. Portfolio

The porfolio should be a single PDF that contains the following:

  • For videos/films, and sound recordings, provide links (up to 5).
